Top 10 Easiest Dr. Seuss Crafts for Preschoolers
We’ve rounded up the top ten easiest Dr. Seuss crafts for preschoolers and kindergarteners! We’ve done all these crafts in the preschool classroom or with my grandchildren, and Dr. Seuss is always a favorite. And the best part is that these crafts go great with any other Dr. Seuss activity you have planned!
With Dr. Seuss’s birthday, March 2nd, coming up, these easy crafts are a great way to celebrate Dr. Seuss day for young children! They will have so much fun doing the crafts either on their own or in addition to reading the books.
1. Cat in the Hat Craft
The classic book Cat in the Hat is one of Dr. Seuss’ most iconic books, so what better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday than with a hat craft like this. We like to do this pom pom hate craft, but you can also use paint or dotters if that’s easier. These red and white pom poms can be used for so many Dr. Seuss crafts and activities that we do this week that we just get a big bag from Amazon.

2. Truffula Trees Painting
If one of your favorite Dr. Seuss books (or movies!) is The Lorax, then try this easy Lorax craft. This fun craft is wonderful for little hands that may not be able to complete some of the more complex crafts. It’s the perfect craft for toddlers and preschool kids.

We did some sponge painting, and, then, cut out the circles. Then, tape the circles to colored popsicle sticks you can find at the dollar store.

3. Coffee Filter Green Eggs
Maybe the most famous book in the Dr. Seuss collection, Green Eggs and Ham is a favorite among kids of all ages. If you’re looking for a simple craft that’s also a great science activity for the week, try this easy coffee filter craft to make your own green eggs.

4. Fish Painting
If One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is your favorite book in the Dr. Seuss collection, try this fun activity with paint! We try to make a blue fish and a red fish, but, then, we mix the paint to make colorful fish! This is one our favorite process art activities because it’s not about the final product as much as the benefits of painting and messy play.

5. Hot Air Balloon Craft
This cute hot air balloon are a great idea to make if your read Oh, The Places You’ll Go! Make your own hot air balloons with tissue paper, paint, or just pieces of construction paper. Find the step-by-step instructions here.
6. Put Me in the Zoo Craft
One of the favorite characters of young kids is the animal from Put Me in the Zoo, so try this cute craft. All you need for this easy craft is a paper plate, a sponge paint brush (we found at the dollar store), and some colorful paint! The dotter paint brushes are also easier to contain the mess, but still great for fine motor skills!


7. Footprint Animals
When we read The Foot Book with my grandson because it’s one of his favorites, we also tried these cute footprint paintings. Younger kids think that foot painting is a blast, so it’s the perfect activity for this age! This is our whole post about The Foot Book.


8. Wocket in My Pocket Craft
Make your very own wocket with simple materials like these. This is a great craft is this is one of your favorite Dr. Seuss books. And your kids get to keep the cute thing in their pockets!
9. Cat in the Hat Paper Plate Craft
Making masks or characters like this are always a fun preschool craft! This Cat in the Hat craft makes the book even more fun to read!

10. Sock Painting
This easy sock painting craft is a fun way to start one of our favorite art activities- painting without a brush! Painting like this may seem messy, but it’s great for young children’s development. We have the free printable and also all kinds of fun ideas for this book here.
