Fun Christmas Collage Craft for Young Kids
Our simple Christmas collage is an easy craft to do with your young kids this holiday season! Grab some old Christmas crafting supplies and decorations you already have at home for this simple collage activity. It’s even great for toddlers!

Try This Unique Christmas Craft
These Christmas collages are the perfect way to make a new craft this holiday season! We started last year, and now my kids want to do them every year. The kids love the creativity and freedom they get with this craft.
Everyone’s Christmas art will turn out a little different, and that’s another reason we love this craft! Kids of all ages will enjoy creating their very own work of art to help decorate for Christmas!
Easy Fine Motor Practice
This easy craft is a great way to practice those fine motor skills this Christmas time. Your child will use fine motor skills using scissors, putting glue on the paper, and just placing the small pieces where they want them to go. It’s especially helpful for young children who still can’t do more complicated activities or crafts.

If you are looking for more fine motor practice this time of year, we have a full list of our favorite Christmas activities here.
Process Art Activities

One of the best parts about this craft is that there’s no ‘right’ way to do it and no specific end result you need! The beauty of process art is that children can create whatever they want (no instructions necessary) while having so much fun. You can read about why this is so beneficial for young children here, but, to summarize, it supports their emotional, cognitive, and social development.
The Easiest Christmas Craft for Young Kids
The time leading up to Christmas and even just winter break with little kids can feel stressful, so we like to do simple crafts. This Christmas collage is one of the easiest holiday crafts we do, even with my one-year-old.
Gather Your Craft Supplies
Because of the open-ended nature of this craft, you don’t need a sample to follow or any specific directions or supplies. But here’s everything we used (mostly from the dollar store because you know we love crafting on a budget):
- Black, red, and green construction paper
- Ribbon
- Tinsel/ garland
- Bows
- Wrapping paper
- White glue
- Scissors (see note below)

This is what we found easily at the dollar store or had lying around from other Christmas projects in our craft stash. But you could easily swap or add:
- Pom poms
- Tissue paper
- Pipe cleaners
- Christmas stickers
- Glitter glue
Note: The scissors in this project are optional, but we let the kids cut up the pieces of craft supplies before glueing them down. Using the scissors is often a child’s favorite part, and it’s great for their fine motor development. If your child is still pretty young or you’re nervous about scissors, check out our guide to using scissors with small kids here.
Create Your Own Christmas Collage Art Project
Once you have all your craft supplies together, let your child cut them up and glue them on to the paper in any way they want. We even let my kids use the glue bottle themselves for even more fine motor practice. But if they are using scissors, make sure they are supervised at all times.

This art experience is all about their creativity, so you don’t have to give them any more instructions. You can still help them cut up supplies, put glue on, or place their pieces if they need help. It’s a good way to spend quality time together!
Have Fun Creating Your Christmas Art
The most important part of this project (and any you try for Christmas) is to have fun together! Don’t worry how anything turns out. Just enjoy your quality time with your kids this time of year.

More Ways to Use Christmas Craft Supplies
If you do have a lot of extra crafting supplies from this project or just lying around from before, you can make this easy Christmas sensory bin! We use a lot of the same materials as this project. This is a lot of fun for little kids and great for fine motor skills.

Another Simple Christmas Craft
