Easy Step-By-Step Directions
Here’s the full instructions to make these easy paper flowers, and you can still let your child’s imagination inspire their creative skills! But remember, like almost all the arts and crafts we like to do with toddlers and preschoolers, it’s not about the end results.
1. Paint The Paper
First, have your child paint a large piece of paper with colors you like! There’s so many different ways that kids can paint-every flower will come out looking unique. Choose as many colors as you’d like (or just one!) for colorful paper flowers.
For even more fun, you can let your child paint with something other than a paint brush (one of our favorite craft ideas) or even just their hands. Messy play like this is great for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
2. Cut Out Flower Shapes
Next, once the paint has completely dried, cut out flower shapes in the paper. You can make them all the same or choose different types of flowers.
If you’re making these flowers with older children, you can have them help with this step to practice scissor skills. We have a full guide with lots of tips here.
3. Add the Flower Stem
Lastly, grab some green pipe cleaners for any easy stem! Stick the pipe cleaner through the middle of the flower petals or just tape them to the back. Either way, you can have your child help with this step as a great fine motor activity.
Alternatively, you could use craft sticks that you have painted or colored green as a stem.
Beautiful Paper Flower Crafts
And now you have beautiful homemade flowers! As an optional last step, you can add them to a small vase for a great gift.
We hope you have fun making this simple paper flower craft! Enjoy this great project with your child.
