A Quick Guide to Easter Egg Fillers for Toddlers
Check out all these fun Easter egg fillers for toddlers, preschoolers, and even older kids! My two toddlers are getting ready for Easter and the annual Easter egg hunt at grandma’s house this year. So my mom and I came up with the best fillers, including non-candy Easter egg fillers.
The main thing to remember when filling Easter eggs for toddlers or any young child is to avoid choking hazards! This can be harder than you think when plastic Easter eggs are so small. But there are some great ideas out there that still work.

Easter Egg Fillers
Whether you’re looking for sugary treats or great egg fillers that are not edible, there’s something here for every holiday egg hunt. These items will work for young toddlers to kids of all ages!
Small Toys
Small toys are a great way to fill Easter eggs. You can also check the dollar store for small toys that little kids will like. Toys are also a huge hit with toddlers!
- Little Cars (like these pre-filled eggs)
- Character Figures
- Small Bath Toys
- Parachute men
- Finger Puppets
- Bouncy Balls (make sure they’re not too small)

Fun Items
More easy ideas include small items that your child will use. These can be a useful item or just something your child will like that’s not a toy. You’ll have to find the perfect size items depending on what size eggs you have.
- Stickers
- Fun Hair Ties
- Clips
- Temporary Tattoos
- Small Coloring Pages
Snacks
If you’re looking for non-candy Easter egg filler ideas, other snacks are still a great option! You can choose their favorite snack or some of these with less sugar. Here’s some snack ideas that are small enough to fit into your toddler’s Easter eggs.
- Fruit Snacks
- Animal Crackers
- Yogurt Melts
- Fruit Roll-Ups
- Vanilla Wafers
Sweet Treats

If the Easter Bunny is bringing some candy for Easter morning, here’s some that are better for younger kids. To avoid a sugar overload, put just one piece of candy in the little plastic eggs even if the candy is small. We try to avoid hard candies with my toddlers.
- Jelly Beans
- Small Chocolate Eggs
- Peeps
- M & Ms
- Gummy Bears
Great Egg Ideas for Little Kids

Last year, when my son was one and a half, we set up an Easter egg hunt with empty eggs. And even with nothing inside, he still loved it! Toddlers and little kids will have so much fun just finding the eggs, too.
